We did a self guided historical tour to get a feel for Grafton itself. It really is a fascinating town with lots of stories - and the biggest is the lasting legacy of one man's passion to beautify the town. Only one year before his death, Henry Volckers planted the first avenue of Jacarandas in Grafton (all of which survived) and it is now the national Jacaranda Capital, bringing loads of tourists each year.

And yeah, it's quite pretty!

We also discovered a museum that was full of little treasures and really captured especially Caleb's interest. I think he's going to love the war memorial in Canberra in a few weeks!

On our last night we ventured out to see the Jacarandas under illumination and the local Flying Fox colony take off. Both were spectacular for different reasons.

And now the weather has turned, unbelievably it will be our first wet pack up on the trip... but we're going North, and it only gets warmer and sunnier from here!
